A year on. I'm still recovering.

Mind Miles is back

Monday August 29th, 2022 - Joshua Dickerson

It’s now almost been a year since undertaking my 2 Marathons in 2 Weeks challenge in memory of my mum who took her own life in 2019 following several years suffering with mental illness.

Despite the physical effort, it was the incredibly overwhelming experience and mental aspect of sharing our experiences of grief and seeing how many people responded that has really taken the time to recover from.

After saying no more marathons for a while, a surprise entry to Berlin in a few weeks means it's time to put the trainers on for battle again!

Whilst I’m not running under a charity spot for Berlin, I would like to take the opportunity to continue raising awareness and funds for mental health. I have therefore decided to support Hull & East Yorkshire Mind for the vital work they are doing in my home region.

Alongside this I have updated the Mind Miles website to collate all of the words we’ve written so far, the messages received and to continue sharing our thoughts and experiences.

The writing continues to be tough, and the training certainly hasn’t been any easier, but I’m determined to keep on running and talking with the hope that we can help others so that they do not have to go through the same as our family.

Thank you. 💙

In just a few weeks, I will be running the Berlin Marathon and would like to take the opportunity to raise awareness and funds for Hull & East Yorkshire (HEY) Mind to support the vital work they are doing in my home region.
